What made you start or brought you where you are today ? Tell us your Story. What makes you a Buffalo Boss Babe?
Almost 8 years ago, I was pregnant with my first child. We Lived in a smaller apartment in the village of Hamburg. I was working full time as a call center manager at Buffalo General Hospital. I remember at the end of the pregnancy how tired I was and how hard it was to get any of my household chores done. I was talking with a family member and she suggested I give her cleaning lady a call. I was skeptical, I didn’t think she would clean the way I do. I was wrong, I hired her and I came home to a clean house and I felt so relieved. I was almost in tears because I knew I was able to just relax that evening. I knew right then that I have to do this for others. I needed to help these other mothers! I made some flyers advertising my cleaning services. I posted my first one in a restaurant called Schunks. My first client called me, it wasn’t a mother of young kids, it was an older gentleman that needed me to clean his home. I put him on my calendar and I cleaned his house. With some advertising and word of mouth my little cleaning gig became my full time job. I loved it, I still love it. I’ve cleaned hundreds of houses and helped so many people struggling to keep up with their housekeeping. Today I have four children, I don’t clean houses any longer, I made a switch to just commercial accounts. I now have some employees that help keep my business going. I’ve met so many people along the way that’s what I love the most about this business.
Who are your favorite people to follow ?
Mostly Cleaning accounts. There is a cleaning company based out of Chicago called Route that I have followed since they first started and have come a very long way and have expanded their business immensely. They help other cleaning businesses and offer a bunch of resources on how to expand and maintain a cleaning business.
What are your favorite things to do in the area ? Buffalo and greater WNY *
Anything to do as a family. Playgrounds, the zoo, the science museum… Also we like to have a date night every once in a while. So we like to go to nice dinners
Tell us about your favorite collaboration or dream collaborations ?
My dream is to travel to cleaning conventions, I know it sounds crazy, but they exist!! The company I mentioned above has “Cleaning and Cocktails” events all over the US. I believe the last one was in Vegas. Who doesn’t want to travel, have cocktails and learn about cleaning?!
If you could have coffee with anyone in the world who would it be?
My late mother. She passed away 6 years ago, she was just shy of her 53rd birthday. I have so many questions for her especially being a mother of 4. My first question to her would be how did she do it! I could use some mothering advice from her.
What are your hopes, dreams, goals. Big or small?
Hopefully one day The Tidy Buffalo will be the most successful cleaning business in WNY.
Tell us about your family?
I married my husband Matt July 2018. We have four children. Piper is 9, Matthew is 7, Grace is 6 and Owen is a year and a half! We live outside of the village of Hamburg. My husband works in manufacturing of plastics and travels a ton. Which isn’t so bad because I sometimes get to travel with him. We also like to travel as a family.
