Buffalo Boss Babe: Rebecca Brady
Rebecca Brady is today’s well deserved Buffalo Boss Babe! Rebecca is at the forefront of Buffalo’s resurgence with her company Top Seedz. She has been in Buffalo for three years and holy cow is she making a splash! She was a winner of the Ignite Buffalo awards and let me personally tell you, her crackers are DELICIOUS (and healthy)! Keep reading to see how her winding past has landed her here.
What made you start or brought you where you are today? Tell us your Story. What makes you a Buffalo Boss Babe?
I have always wanted to setup my own business so when we moved to the USA three years ago I decided it was now or never. My kids were becoming more independent and needed much less of my time. I took some time to think about what my passions were and decided to combine my love of good food and nutrition and Top Seedz was born! I take great satisfaction in feeding my family healthy food. Now I'm just extending that to my greater family in Buffalo.
What does being a Buffalo Boss Babe mean to you?
Well, I feel very privileged to be part of the resurgence in Buffalo. Having perfectly timed our arrival three and half years ago, appreciation of locally produced, nutritious food was well and truly on it's way up. And here we are today with so many cool brands of 'Buffalo made' food and drinks.
Who are your favorite people to follow?
Anyone who loves food, nutrition and healthy living. I also love following my family and friends. I'm a New Zealander and have spent the last 20 years in Japan and Singapore so we're spread out all over the world, following them shortens that distance and keeps us a bit closer.
What are your favorite things to do in the area? Buffalo and greater WNY
I have three children and we are all big sports fans. They are all involved in two or three sports each so a lot of time is spent supporting their teams. It's a great way to get out and meet people and see a bit of Buffalo and sometimes beyond. After that we love to explore new places to eat!! It's all about food.
Tell us about your favorite collaboration or dream collaborations ?
I love anything local. Most of our customers are located less than a 20 minute drive from our kitchen, I get a real buzz out of that. I love the team effort of helping each other succeed, we're showing the store or restaurant's customers what a cool offering this city has.
If you could have coffee with anyone in the world who would it be?
If I could go back in time Kate Sheppard would have a pretty incredible story to tell. She led the suffrage campaign which gave New Zealand women the first in the world the right to vote in 1893. If I had to choose someone who's alive today it would have to be our very cool New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Adern. In between breastfeeds, she has just launched a plastic bag ban, negotiated an end to a strike by nurses and announced a new mental health hospital for acute patients.
What are your hopes, dreams, goals. Big or small?
To make Buffalonians proud, I want Top Seedz to be the next big Buffalo brand!
Tell us about your family?
I met my Irish husband 20 years ago in Japan, since then we've had three wonderful children, and lived in three different countries (Japan, Singapore and USA). The last three years have been in Buffalo and we all love it. The summers are incredible, the winters are super fun and the people are great!
