Buffalo Boss Babe: Rosalie Caruso
Today's Buffalo Boss Babe is Rosalie Caruso who owns and operates Buffalo Cake Pops. Each and every time one of her cake pop's pops up on my Instagram feed I am instantly drooling and writing OMG. They are honestly mini edible pieces of artwork. Rosalie is so talented and truly lives for the details she puts in these cake pops. She has something for every event and style, she even makes wedding cake pops! If you can think it up she can make it into a cake shaped bite of goodness. We chatted with Rosalie about life, small business and more!
What made you start or brought you to where you are today? Tell us your story and what makes you a Buffalo Boss Babe.:
I initially started baking as an outlet. I always loved making cut out cookies at Christmas time, and then got into making my family's Italian cookie recipes. When I started baking cookies for friend's weddings, I found cake pops online and started practicing them. I've been renting shared commercial kitchens for the past 5 years and finally have my own retail location. It's been a whirlwind and I honestly don't even remember how I got here, but it's been awesome and I never want to stop!
Who are your favorite people to follow?:
My fav people to follow on social media are other inspiring small businesses, but my absolute favorite are the ladies from Scratch Bakeshop in Rochester. (@scratchbakeshoproc) Their desserts are the prettiest and lovely to look at- which I'm so into, obviously!
What are your favorite things to do in the area (Buffalo and greater WNY):
I love just exploring in the neighborhood! I love watching the sunset at Canalside on a gorgeous summer evening. I love running at Delaware Park. And I love just strolling on Elmwood or Hertel Ave.
Tell me about your favorite collaborations or a dream collaboration?
This is a huge pipe dream, but I'd love for Terry Pegula to call me up and ask me to make thousands of Buffalo Sabres Sabretooth cake pops for a big event for him!!!
If you could have coffee with anyone in the world, who would it be?:
My grandpa. I would bring my cuccidati cookies and tell him about all the progress I've made with my small business that he's missed the past couple years. <3
What are your hopes, dreams, goals? Big or small.:
I'm already living my dream! ;) I'd love to have a store front of my own some day. I have this vision of a huge Buffalo based business collaboration, sort of like a small market of vendors in one location. It would be a destination location, where you could conveniently come pick up a cake pop. We're getting there!
Tell us about your family a bit (2 or 4 legged)?
My mom and dad are my two biggest fans! My younger brother moved to Florida a few years ago (in the middle of the winter I refer to him as the 'smarter sibling'), and by the time this article is published, I will have the best sister-in-law in all the land. Disclaimer- they all love cake pops.
