Buffalo Boss Babe Alison Lovern
This weeks Buffalo Boss Babe is Alison Lovern from Lovern Photography. I don't even know where to start with this amazing boss babe. Not only is she an amazing photographer but a seriously boss mother. Alison's grace and kindness is something I am so envious of. She is legit the epitome of go with the flow. No.... seriously.... she does yoga everyday. I am also a mother of three so I can say with experience that some days are a total shit show! She somehow seems to hold it together with such a mellow attitude and I love her for this! We sat down with Alison to chat about goals, balance and so much more!

What made you start or brought you to where you are today? Tell us your story and what makes you a Buffalo Boss Babe.
I started Lovern Photography almost seven years ago. My husband, Dave, and I had literally just gotten married a couple of months prior, and I was excited at the idea of actually doing something in my field (I went to Buff State for photography back in the day, but hadnโt been doing anything with it for years!). Of course, we like to keep things interesting, so we were pregnant with our first shortly after starting the business, and have been juggling things ever since! Buffalo wasnโt quite as booming back when we started, and I have loved watching it grow. Being a wedding and family photographer, I get to see and experience all of the new hot spots and venues in full swing as they open their doors. Itโs pretty awesome to have had a front row seat for Buffaloโs resurgence.

Who are your favorite people to follow?
ย
SO MANY, but if I had to pick a few...
@buffalocakepops
@rusterior
@jennayresphoto
@nickelcitypretty
@buffaloindieweddings
What are your favorite things to do in the area (Buffalo and greater WNY)?
Anything that involves coffee - ha! But, seriously. If I can find a good cup of coffee, Iโm a happy gal. We love spending every Sunday morning at the South Buffalo Farmerโs Market. I can get my Public Espresso fix, stock up on veggies, visit all of our favorite vendors, and spend the morning strolling through the park listening to live music. I literally can not think of a better way to spend a Sunday morning, and itโs one of my absolute favorite things to do in Buffalo.
ย
Tell me about your favorite collaborations or a dream collaboration?
ย
I recently got to photograph Rosalie of Buffalo Cake Pops in her new bakery space. Everyone on planet earth may know about my cake pop obsession by now, so when she asked me to take some new photos for her I saidโฆum, yes!!! Sheโs an incredible woman, small business owner, and just an all around inspiring person in general. So anytime we get to collaborate Iโm happy. Plus, cake pops.
ย
If you could have coffee with anyone in the world who would it be?
ย
I would love to have a coffee with Gabby Bernstein. I mean, talk about goals. Sheโs one of my biggest inspirations. I have all of her books, and love pretty much everything she does. If you believe in energy, and manifesting, and the power of the universe (I am totally โwoo wooโ like that), then you should definitely check her out. Would love to be able to pick her brain.
ย
What are your hopes, dreams, goals? Big or Small.
I just want to be happy. Itโs as simple as that. I want to experience joy, at least on some level, everyday. The life of a small business owner is hard. Harder than you ever imagine it will be when you start, but itโs also extremely rewarding. The thought that we get to be there for people, and provide them with this art, is pretty amazing. Sure, there are a million incredibly talented photographers out there, but the photographs we provide only exist because itโs our vision right there in that moment. No one can duplicate it. Itโs like magic. We assess all the time our level of happiness in where weโre at in life. As long as what weโre doing brings joy to us and to those weโre providing it for, weโll keep moving forward! Who knows what the future will bring, but I know my soul is happy when Iโm being creative and making people happy.
Tell us about your family a bit ?
We have three kiddos - a six year old son Fionn (Fin), a three year old daughter Nuala (New-la), and an eight month old son Faolan (Fay-lin). Obviously weโre big fans of the Irish names. We also have a rescue pup named Henry, and two rescued kitties, Elliott and Humphries. Pretty much everyone in our house is crazy, and we donโt sleep much.
Feel Good Five :)
